“I’m looking for an engagement ring.”
“I want to give my wife an anniversary ring.”
If you want a ring that is more personal, and perhaps less traditional, than what you see in the mainstream, then custom design may be the answer!
To us, an engagement ring means, literally, a ring presented upon getting engaged. Period. Same with an anniversary ring: it is a ring to celebrate an anniversary. Neither one must contain diamonds, nor does it have to conform to a carat size or style of setting. It could have multiple stones, or none. It could be purple or orange. Or purple AND orange!
Once you start thinking outside the box, it’s easy to get excited about the possibilities… and maybe a bit overwhelmed.
Before jumping into the creative pool, it’s helpful to consider the answers to these questions to help you get started:
1. What kind of gemstone will it have? (If you don’t know, then what color do you love?)
2. Should the gem be alone (a solitaire), or have companions (as in a 3-stone or multi-gem ring)?
3. Should the stone(s) be the focus of the ring, or should the design of the metalwork share the attention?
4. Do you like gems held in prongs or bezels?
5. Do you want yellow gold, white gold, rose gold or platinum? Or a combination? (What’s the difference?)
6. Do you like wide rings or narrow rings?
7. Do you like solid rings, or rings with open spaces?
8. Do you like rings with straight lines or curvy ones?
9. Will the ring be worn against a wedding band, or worn on another hand?
10. Will this ring be worn everyday, occasionally, or only for special events?
We know… this is a lot of questions!
